Fingerprints are unique to every individual, making them one of the most reliable forms of identification. Fingerprint examination, also known as dactyloscopy, is a fundamental aspect of forensic science. It requires the examination and comparison of distinct patterns found on individual’s fingertips. Fingerprint examination consists of numerous steps, including detection, enhancement, comparison, and evaluation. Fingerprints are regarded as one of the most reliable types of evidence in criminal investigations due to their uniqueness and longevity. The existence of a suspect's fingerprint at a crime scene can be critical evidence in court, helping to secure convictions or exonerate innocent people. Advances in technology, such as high-resolution imaging, 3D printing, and machine learning algorithms, are improving the accuracy and efficiency of fingerprint examination. This training program on fingerprint examination will provide participants with the fundamental abilities and understanding needed to analyse fingerprints with competence. Participants will learn fingerprint classification, identification methods, and the interpretation of ridge characteristics through a combination of theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience. Through practical exercises, students can become acquainted with a variety of fingerprint-detecting techniques.
