Forensic Science plays a crucial role in the criminal justice system by providing scientific analysis to aid investigations and bring criminals to justice. However, despite its importance, forensic science often faces misconceptions that can undermine its credibility and effectiveness. Addressing misconceptions and building trust in forensic science are imperative tasks that shape the integrity of our criminal justice system. One prevalent misperception about forensic science is that it is perfect and always produces conclusive results. In actuality, forensic evidence has limitations and probable flaws, just like any other scientific procedure. From this lecture we will learn about various misconceptions about forensic science and how we can protect the integrity of forensic science as a foundation of our judicial system by supporting transparency, education, collaboration, and adherence to best practices. Only through collaborative efforts can we ensure that forensic evidence is used effectively to promote truth and justice.
